WHAT DO YOU SEE, FEEL, and HEAR?
—
After showing this piece to a dear friend, he pointed out a unique feature within the image. Once he pointed it out I immediately seen the unintentional second image that immediately caught his eye. Talk about a surprise!
Before I reveal what he seen, I would like to know what you see! What does the image say to you? Does it stir up an emotion within you? If so, what emotion are you feeling? Why do you thing that is?
Please share your thoughts in the comment section below!
( Do not worry. I will reveal what Leif seen very soon! )
POST UPDATE:
To my surprise, this is what he seen.
To him, the dirt created an outline of a woman’s breast and pregnant belly. The woman signified the fetus and the roots were the woman’s hand cradling the baby.
I see it now, but it was never intentional. How cool is that?!
This was not the only interpretation that surprised me. Read the awe inspiring interpretations on Facebook HERE.
I am so grateful for everyone who took the time to share their thoughts on this image. It means more than you will ever know. ♥
THE CONCEPT
—
During one of our camping trips, we stumbled upon this beautiful fern patch and I just had to get images of it. Upon entering the patch I noticed a natural void in the ferns. I immediately wanted to put a person inside of it. 😂 Having no one to model the image that flashed in my head, I decided to get multiple shots of the area from above to use in a composite later. I must have looked crazy standing in this fern patching spinning around and around with my camera held over my head!
THE PROCESS

Warning!
Broken Record → ME ←
This concept did not end the way I had planned. Surprise, surprise!
This image originally started with the subject surrounded by ferns. However, once I put it together it lacked the interest needed to hold the viewer’s attention. I had to walk away. I was upset and tired but I could never scrap the image. I knew there was a story here. I just didn’t know what it was.
Being naturally drawn to nature, I began to think of other natural elements and how I could incorporate them into the scene. I decided to include various roots of the trunk of this gorgeous tree that I stare at every week in the public park! Combining these three elements created the depth I wanted for the image.
